Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Engineer Shaukatullah Khan has called upon the donors' community and the developed nations to generously support the humanitarian as well as development initiatives of the government for the people for Fata.
Talking at a donors' co-ordination conference held at Islamabad on Wednesday, he said that both Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata had been sheltering Afghan refugees for decades and were also the frontline of the war on terror due to which their lands have been destroyed to a great extent.
He said that though on its own the government was making every effort to provide humanitarian assistance to the people affected by terrorism as well as the uplift of the people of Fata yet the donors community also needs to supplement these efforts. He said that they were working over a comprehensive reforms and development programme in Fata and the results of it will be visible to everyone within two-three years. Senior representatives of international donor as well as UN agencies including JICA, UNHCR, UNICEF, WHO, Care International, and senior diplomats actively participated in the co-ordination conference wherein humanitarian situation in Pakistan and updates of flood preparedness on part of national disaster management authority was discussed in detail.
The secretary Planning and Development Fata on this occasion briefed the participants on the Early Recovery Assistance Framework for Fata which is meant for rehabilitation of the internally displaced people and the development of Fata. The situation of the internally displaced people from Fata due to terrorism and their well-being as well as resettlement was discussed in detail.
