The federal capital has worn deserted look on the second day of election as many of the people have not returned from their native towns after casting their vote. Majority of the people in capital, belonged to other parts of the country, have settled here for job purposes and they used to visit their hometown on such important occasions.
The people were not fully aware about the procedure to inform the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for changing the place of vote from their native towns to the area where they are living.
While those who were aware have changed their place of vote in time by informing the ECP. Sajida, a voter said "I live in Rawalpindi and my place of vote was Murree so I thronged early morning to my native town to cast my vote".
"I came to know about the procedure of changing place of vote when the stipulated time period given by ECP was over so there was no option left for me except going there." Zahid Khan, another voter said, "it was not in my knowledge that how I can change my voting address so I have to visit my hometown Mardan today".
"It was difficult to visit a place which is too far just to cast vote but it was our national obligation to cast vote for a better future", he said. The announced holiday for election day has also made the city roads deserted while the shops and food outlets also remained closed, creating problems for the bachelors.
