According to unofficial results announced by Election Commission of Pakistan, 14 women were successful in May 11 general elections 2013 by winning five National and nine provincial assembles seats. Women, who reached in National Assembly, included Sumaira Malik, a candidate of Pakistan Muslim League-N who won a seat from NA 69 Khushab-I with 118,108 votes defeating Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf candidate Umar Aslam Khan, who secured 78,855.
The second successful candidate is Ghulam Bibi Bharwana, who contested elections on PML-N ticket from NA 88 (Jhang-Cum-Chiniot) getting 87,002 against Makhdoom Zada Syed Asad Hayat who got 68,850 votes as an independent candidate. The third National Assembly seat was claimed by Saira Afzal Tarrar, daughter of former president Rafiq Tarrar, from NA-102 (Hafizabad-I) who received 93,013 votes on PML-N ticket against Chaudhary Shaukat Ali Bhatti, an Independent candidate.
Faryal Talpur of the Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarians won a seat from NA-207 (Larkana-Cum-Shikarpur-cum-Kamber Shahdadkot) with 83,918 votes. Former Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza of PPPP won the seat from NA 225 (Badin-Cum-Tando Muhammad Khan-II).
In Punjab Assembly Dr Nadia Aziz of PML-N won from PP 34 (Sargodha-VII), while Iffat Maraj Awan of PML-N succeeded from PP-53 (Faisalabad-III) Rashida Yaqoob was declared successful who contested as an Independent candidate from PP 88 (Toba Tek Singh-V) PML-N candidate Nazia Raheel also won.
From PP 101 (Gujranwala-XI) Riaz Amanat Ali Virk from PML-N returned successful while another PML-N candidate Sameena Noor succeeded from PP 185 (Okara I), and Nagma Mushtaq of the same party won from PP 206 (Multan XIII). In Sindh Assembly Parveen Aziz and Saniya from Pakistan People's Party won from PS 76 (Dadu III) and PS 109 (Karachi XXI) respectively, however, no woman was elected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan assemblies on general seats.
