Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) and Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) on Wednesday finalised power sharing formula for formation of coalition government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to the formula, JI and QWP would get three ministries each whereas the PTI would hold the chief minister and speaker positions in the province.
General Secretary of PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shaukat Yousufzai, when contacted said : "Yes QWP, JI and PTI have agreed on a power sharing formula and the government formula will be announced today." The sources in PTI confirmed that the QWP would get the slot of Deputy Speaker, one senior minister and a minister while the Jamaat-i-Islami would be getting two ministers and a senior minister's slot.
The PTI would also be announcing the names of the leader of the house shortly while the speaker's slot would also be retained by it. "We have not yet finalised the names of Chief Minister and Speaker, but we will be retaining both the slots," Shaukat said. The PTI leaders Pervaiz Khattak and Asad Qaiser are engaged in power struggle for the coveted slot of KPK chief minister.
Sources say that one of the coalition partners of the PTI has shown reservations on the name of Pervaiz Khattak so the PTI was mulling over the name of some other candidate, probably Asad Qaiser, which would be finalised after PTI chief Imran Khan approves the name.
BR reporter from Lahore adds: JI chief Syed Munawar Hassan, while talking to reporter at the Shaukat Khanum Cancer hospital after visiting PTI chief Imran Khan said that the PTI, JI and QWP have agreed to form a coalition government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. JI would get three ministries (Finance, Education and Zakat & Ushar). The QWP would also get three ministries. There would be one Senior Minister each from JI and the QWP.
He said that the PTI mandate in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should be respected. Hassan said that even the Election Commission had admitted large scale rigging in 25 NA constituencies in Karachi and the JI and the PTI would stage joint sit-ins for re-polling in these constituencies.
He told newsmen that Imran Khan was recovering fast and was taking keen interest in national affairs. They had a brief discussion in a candid atmosphere. JI Secretary General Liaqat Baloch and other party leaders also accompanied the JI chief. Hassan said that US President Obama's repeated phone calls to the PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif after the polls proved that the US fully realised that Pakistan and not India could help Washington in resolving its problems and also in pulling out from the region. He said the US should adopt a wise policy and pullout of the region at the earliest.
He said that the new government would have to solve the numerous problems facing the country and the nation on war footing. The JI chief said that the incidents of bogus voting had badly hurt the image of the Election Commission and the JI and the PTI would join in the demand for fresh polling in Karachi, and Hyderabad.
