Shura Hamdard felicitated the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on holding successful elections and appreciates the voters for their mass participation in the elections. Speakers at a meeting of Shura Hamdard Karachi chapter felicitated the ECP on holding fair and successful elections and appreciate the voters for enthusiastic participation in elections 2013.
The meeting was held here on May 16, on the theme: "Public representative and luxurious perks and privileges," presided over by the former Chief Justice of Sharriat Court Islamabad, Haziqul Khairi at a local hotel. Sadia Rashid, President, Hamdard Foundation Pakistan was also present at the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan said that the public representatives were equally responsible for bringing the nation to this state of decay as he found few real Pakistanis, in terms of thinking and approach, in Parliament. They were not real representatives as they were elected through unfair means, he said.
Justice Khairi said that the turnover of recent general elections ie 62 percent was a record and the Election Commission of Pakistan was rightly deserved congratulation. There were some disturbances that were the result of civil administration's lack of support to Election Commission, he added.
Haq Nawaz Akhtar, former Chairman, Pakistan Steel Mills said that Pakistani governments were seemed to be the continuation of Mughal Sultanate, because they didn't pay attention to the grievances of the public and kept their eyes on making their own Taj Mahals. The change had started from May 11 and he saw the silver lining of hope in youth's eyes, full of confidence and courage to change the country's fate, he added.
Mahdi Masud, former ambassador of Pakistan, said in the midst of open threats of bomb blasts and terrorist attacks, the mass upsurge and commitment by our voters had boosted the image of Pakistan and whole world was appreciating the courage and democratic sense of Pakistani people. Brigadier Syed Muzaffar-ul-Hassan (Retd), Shamim Kazmi, Dr Abubakar Sheikh, Dr Amir Ta'asin and Dr Naeem Qureshi also spoke.-PR
