LAHORE: The caretaker Punjab government has levied a 16 percent provincial sales tax (PST) on a slew of services, including guest houses, motels, marriage halls & lawns and pandal & shamiana. Others are contractual execution of work; foreign exchange dealers and money changers; beauty parlours, slimming clinics, cosmetic surgery; and management consultancy, including fund and asset management.
The PST on freight forwarding agents is at the rate of Rs 400 per each bill of lading. As far as construction sector is concerned, it is at the rate of Rs 100 per 100 square yards for land development and Rs 50 per square feet for building construction. A notification (No. SO (Tax) 1-1/2013-14 dated 22 May) in this regard was issued on May 22, 2013. It came into effect immediately.
