Manufacturing of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) has dropped in local market, as the manufacturers are foreseeing a substantial increase in power supply soon after the new government takes charge in the country. The market sources said supply of new UPS has come to a halt, as the manufacturers are not ready to take risk by building up inventories in a highly uncertain situation.
A UPS is typically used to protect computers, data centres, telecommunication equipment or other electrical equipment where an unexpected power disruption could cause injuries, fatalities, serious business disruption or data loss. However, the use of UPS as a backup of power outages has seen exponential rise in recent past. Besides the UPS, the use of generators has also increased in urban and rural areas to deal with the problem of loadshedding. The UPS suppliers were expecting good business prospects during the ongoing summer. However, these expectations are getting dismal with prime focus of the PML-N on overcoming the power shortage in the country.
