Unknown armed men kidnapped three supporters of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) from Khokhrapar, Malir area on Wednesday morning and later dumped their bodies in Jalbani Goth in the limits of Khokhrapar police stations. Following the incident, tension gripped Malir area where all commercial and social activities were halted.
SHO Khokharapar Nawaz Ali Shah said that Rescue 15 received a call from Javeed, in-charge of MQM unit 98, at 9:40am that four workers of the party were kidnapped from Ghanchi Market, Malir city when they were on the way to work in a private contract vehicle. "Later, we found three bodies and an injured man from Jalbani Goth located in Khokharapar police limits. All victims are employees of Denim Textile Factory located in Korangi Industrial Area and associated with MQM unit 98," he added.
He said that unknown armed men intercepted a private contract vehicle near Ghanchi Market, Malir city and pulled them out of the vehicle after identification. They took them to Jalbani Goth where they were shot dead, he added. Three of them, who were identified as Farhan, 25, son of Faiz Ahmad, Mehtab, 28, son of Abdul Waheed and Tauseef, 29, son of Farooq, died on the spot while Muhammad Farhan, 20, son of Idrees, sustained serious bullet injuries on his head and abdomen.
"Farhan is in critical condition and chances for his survival are not bright," he said adding that all of them were residents of Khokhrapar area. The bodies and the injured were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where miscreants went on rampage and ransacked hospital property. Later, scores of MQM men took the bodies to CM House and staged a sit-in there, which was going on till filing of this report.
MQM leader Ashfaq Mangi during the sit-in said that the victims were not MQM activists but they were supporters of the party. Another man was killed in sector 5-E, New Karachi. The identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained. The body was shifted to Edhi Morgue after legal formalities at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH).
A woman, Razia Khan, 40, wife of Tauheed, was injured in North Nazimabad in a firing incident. Two more persons identified as Kifayatullah, 28, son of Abdul Sami and Nizamuddin, 30, son of Allah Bux, were injured at Highway while Sharjeel, 45, son of Muhammad Ali sustained bullet wounds in DHA phase VII.
