President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday said that the whole nation was proud of a young lady mountaineer Ms Samina Baig for her historic achievement to summit the world's highest Mount Everest and also for introducing Pakistani women as a symbol of talent and great potential.
The President said this while speaking to the two young Pakistani mountaineers from Gilgit Baltistan, Samina Baig and her brother Mirza Ali who along with Chief Minister GB Syed Mehdi Shah called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Thursday. Ms Aseefa Zardari was also present on the occasion. The President congratulated both of them on their great achievement particularly Samina Baig for becoming the first Pakistani women to scale Mount Everest. Lauding the will and determination of Samina Baig, the President said that Samina has made the nation proud and has earned laurels for the country by becoming the first Pakistani women to scale Mount Everest, the world's highest mountain.
The President expressed confidence that the young Samina Baig will act as a role model for the women of the country and that her gigantic achievement will ignite zeal in women folk of Pakistan. The President expressed hope that they would continue to work hard and keep the flag of Pakistan flying high in the world of mountaineering.
