Amir of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Professor Muhammad Ibrahim said on Sunday that the problem of terrorism in KP could not be resolved without the help of the Pakistan Army. Talking to media persons here at a local hotel, Professor Ibrahim said the coalition of the JI with the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) is confined to KP only and there is no such arrangement in the Centre.
He said the JI will try hard to avoid any tension with the federal government because the provincial government can't be run without the support and co-operation of the Centre. Professor Ibrahim said the PML-N accepted the JI's request and withdrew its candidates from the election of speaker and deputy speaker of the KP Assembly, but the PTI did not accept their request to withdraw its candidates from the election of speaker and deputy speaker of the National Assembly.
The JI leader said the PTI did not contact them even once for the election of prime minister while the PML-N made repeated contacts, that is why the JI went in favour of the PML-N candidate in the Centre. He clarified that the PTI showed no anger over JI's voting in favour of Nawaz Sharif as prime minister.
About the drone attacks, the JI leader said all the coalition partners after developing consensus on the issue should talk with the central government over the issue. On the other hand, he alleged, the Afghan government was backing some anti-Pakistan elements in the border area which has further deteriorated the situation. He dispelled the impression that there were any differences between the PTI and JI over the provincial education ministry. He said Imran Khan had requested that the PTI had a programme about the education, therefore, this ministry should be left with the PTI.
