Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Sunday observed a candle light vigil at Quaid's mausoleum with the theme of "Peace for Karachi, Peace for Pakistan". MQM workers, supporters, sympathisers, office-bearers and their families participated in the vigil. MQM Deputy Conveners and members of Co-ordination Committee were also present on the occasion.
The participants also raised placards and banners inscribed with "Save Karachi, Save Pakistan",

Portraits of the slain MQM leaders and workers, who were targeted during the last three months were also displayed on the occasion. MQM Co-ordination Committee member Haider Abbas Rizvi while addressing to the participants demanded elimination of terrorists and terrorism from the country.
"By the candlelight vigil at Quaid's mausoleum, we have proved that the nation wants elimination of terrorism," Rizvi added.
Rizvi said that 50,000 people including armed forces personnel had being killed in terrorists' attacks while the government had not yet taken any cohesive step in this regard.
He further demanded of the government to formulate an effective strategy immediately for combating terrorism.
