Equities registered gains on the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) amid descending transaction volume on Tuesday. The LSE-25 index moved up to 4395.39 points against 4320.96 points of Monday, showing an increment of 74.43 points, while transaction volume significantly declined to 03.218 million shares, as compared to previous volume of 07.026 million shares.
According to brokers, equities recovered its earlier loss after investors took fresh positions in selected shares. Some positive developments on economic front may help the bourses to move in upward direction. Nishat Mills Limited, Pakgen Power, Pakistan Telecommunication, Bank Alfalah, Adamjee Insurance, KESC, the Bank of Punjab, ABL and Maple Leaf registered gains while, MCB Bank, PSO, Engro Corporation, Attock Refinery, Pakistan Petroleum, Bank Al-Habib, Pak Elecktron, Engro Foods, Fauji Fertiliser Company and Flying Cement registered losses.
The losers were more than the gainers, as out of a total of 80 companies, 20 showed strength and were closed in green zone, 23 suffered losses, while 37 companies stayed unchanged at their previous levels. Among the gainers, Nishal Mills gained Rs 1.80, Pakgen Power was improved by Rs 1.02, Pakistan Telecommunication was appreciated by 86-paisa, while Bank Alfalah, Adamjee Insurance, KESC, Macpac Films, the Bank of Punjab, ABL and Maple Leaf were up by 84-paisa,50-paisa, 48-paisa, 45-paisa, 45-paisa, 45-paisa and 35-paisa, respectively.
Among losers, MCB Bank lost Rs 10.05, PSO was declined by Rs 5.85, Engro Corporation shed Rs 2.61, while Attock Refinery, Pakistan Petroleum, Bank Al-Habib, Pak Electron, Engro Foods, Fauji Fertiliser Company and Flying Cement were down by Rs 2.60, Rs 1.90, 70-paisa, 66-paisa, 50-paisa, 47-paisa and 32-paisa, respectively. The Bank of Punjab was the market leader followed by NIB Bank.
