September 20, 2011 US President Bush policy statement to defeat, stop, eliminate and destroy terrorism through power and giving it the name of War against Terror now seems failed by greeting Taliban political office and calling it door for peace. United States spent billions dollars to eliminate al Qaida, Taliban and other militants in Afghanistan and for this purpose Bush administration demanded supplemental budgets of billions dollars since 2001 to 2009. Similarly Obama administration adopted the same lines and spent huge amount on defense and on war against terror which caused budget deficit and economic crisis in the country.
Evaluation of US policy of War on Terrorism shows that United States loses much but gains nothing. Bad Economy, unemployment, more insecurity in mind of US people are the main outcomes of that policy. In United States people started thinking that spending of that much huge amount which is basically their tax money in the name of war on terror and to make world peaceful and now greeting those terrorist forces is basically a joke with them. People also discuss that US and coalition partners have failed to overcome terrorism and now it seems that they are begging peace from those terrorist against whom they declare war. Step to greet Taliban for opening of political office depicts that today world is more insecure as it has never been in the past.
Why not such feelings develop in people minds when US and other world media including President Obama welcome Taliban and US top three newspapers New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Washington Post greet Taliban in their headlines as, New York Times wrote "Taliban step toward Afghan peace talks is hailed by US. Washington Post wrote referring President Obama statement "Obama says new Taliban office in Qatar is important first step for Afghan reconciliation, Wall Street Journal wrote in story that "Taliban Open Door to Peace Talks. These three stories about Taliban clearly show the performance of US and Coalition partners.
Now the question is if dialogue was ultimate result to bring the peace, then why more than twelve years spent on killing of innocent people, spending trillion dollars of innocent US tax payers for this cause. Whether any leader or United State official is ready to confess that Mr Bush policy was wrong to eradicate terrorism through force and ultimate solutions was dialogue, whether Current Government will hold accountable Bush and his administration for formulating wrong policy and for killing of thousands of innocent people. And if that policy was not wrong, then why world's most wanted terrorist group is allowed to open its office through which they will monitor terrorist activities freely in the name of so called peace process. Greeting Doha move is basically admission of evils' power. The US and other coalition partners ever think about its long-term effects on world peace. At this time may be they are not realising that they are introducing a new method for legitimizing terrorism. They ever think that, they are giving world peace in the hands of terrorist, when and where they wish, will start terrorist activities and at the end they come towards dialogue by opening lavish office in the name of peace, by this move not only Taliban but every terrorist group working in any part of the world will get force to reconcile their every sin on their own terms.
Policy announcement of Bush on September 20, 2011 and Well Come statement by Mr Obama depicts lack of knowledge of ground realities by US policy makers. It is surprising that without any clear hallucination, how world super powers took decisions and on failure, how they greet and react like conqueror. Today when world media and leadership is greeting Taliban for Doha move, Whether they will think about killing of thousands of innocent civilian in Pakistan who have no nexus with al Qaida and Taliban, those were poor innocent people, they will ever do justice with those thousands of people who have lost their parts of body due to drones and suicide bombing and now they are spending life as disabled persons. While greeting these evils world media and coalition partners will bother to listen voice of those thousands of Pakistani who lost their houses due to bombing and drones and now they are looking for shelter but no one cares them except US drone attacks and if they escape from drones, suicide attacks are waiting for them. Whether the US government will ever do justice with the families of US army, Nato forces and Pakistan's Army soldiers who have lost their lives in war against terrorism and similarly what about innocent people killed in Afghanistan whether anybody is ready to compensate their families. But who has a time to think about those real hero's, as world Media and US Leadership is busy in celebrating Taliban move.
It is more surprising that US will start peace process through dialogue with Taliban. Now the question is what United States can give to Taliban, whether United States demand Mullah Umar (Taliban leader) or will permit Taliban his free movement and what about other Taliban and al Qaida leaders, for those United States has announced big head money. If United States demands Taliban to give up militancy, then it will be a big jock with the world and even Taliban too. Yes, United States can give them assurance that the US and Nato forces will not attack them, they can move freely subject to so called assurance of maintaining peace in the region, this offer will be hot cake for Taliban, as they will get chance to gather force to rule the world and ultimately they will gain more power and will start same activities with more strength.
Sad; the US and coalition partners have no other option except dialogue, but they must be clear in their minds that with whom they are going to initiate peace process, whether they are human beings, if so they have any religion, if they are human being and they have religion, then which religion they follow, if they call themselves Muslims, then I will not agree as it is clearly mentioned in Quran 5:32 "Because of this did We ordain unto the children of Israel that if anyone slays a human being - unless it be [in punishment] for murder or for spreading corruption on earth - it shall be as though he had slain all mankind; whereas, if anyone saves a life, it shall be as though he had saved the lives of all mankind." In light of this Quranic verse, Muslims have firm belief that if anybody denied saying of Quran cannot be Muslim. So the US need to be sure, with whom they are going to initiate peace process and must think about surety for that.
Now the question is how to bring peace in the region, the answer is very simple, United States need to avoid making policies in haste like War on Terror, after spending trillion dollars; what they have gained except greeting terrorists. It was big mistake to initiate war in haste and without knowing ground realities and history of that region, US at that time was in a position to achieve its aims without going into war, but unfortunately step taken in haste and without knowing real facts, today put the world at more risk.
At this time expecting much from Doha move is like notorious dream, because evil never guides towards peace and if United States and coalition partners succeeded to bring Taliban at one agenda and agreed to restore peace in the region, it would not be for a long time. The way for permanent peace in the region is twofold and is linked with Education and Economic Condition of people living in that region? If world focus on these two elements, it will be more fruitful for restoring peace then war. Moreover, United States must need to revisit its drone policy and also Constitute Fact Finding Commission to fix the responsibility of all wrong done during the war on terror. That commission must determine the true number of innocent killings in result of drones, suicide bombing, disabled persons due to drones and persons lost their houses and have no shelter to live. Commission must recommend reasonable compensation to families of innocent people killed, get disabled or lost their houses.
Moreover, United States need to improve co-ordination with Pakistan government and luckily Pakistan's ruling party and opposition both are sincere and more concerned to get rid from terrorism and if United States extend genuine co-operation towards Pakistan and will resolve its reservations specially about drone attacks, Pakistan will overcome terrorism in days and if this lack of co-ordination and lack of trust continued between these two countries, then dream of peace in the region will never be fulfilled. Peace in Afghanistan is linked with peace in Pakistan. If Pakistan will be insecure then Doha move will not be effective. Failure to develop co-ordination, lack of trust and absence of uniform policy to combat terrorism by coalition partners, means be ready to welcome second door for peace that may be opened in United States in front of UN Head Quarter or may be White House.
