New surreal pictures of Jupiter make it look just like a painting
NASA’s Juno spacecraft has been in space for quite a long time now and has been sending incredible images of the largest planet Jupiter. The recent images sent by the space craft are so mesmerizing that makes the planet look similar to a watercolor painting.
Juno snapped images of the gas giant back on April 1 during its 12th flyby of Jupiter. The images showed a spectacular demonstration of the planet’s iconic cloud patterns and it makes it look as if looking at a watercolor painting, as BGR describes it.
The JunoCam’s RAW pictures were processed and had their color enhanced to their full potential by citizen scientist Kevin M Gill, after NASA’s public appeal to process the images of the planet. The breathtaking pictures of the planet depict Jupiter’s violent atmospheric storms in a very calm and peaceful manner, wrote Express.co.
Jupiter’s new images show cyclones as wide as Earth on its poles
As NASA describes the image, “See intricate cloud patterns in the northern hemisphere of Jupiter in this new view taken by NASA’s Juno spacecraft. The color-enhanced image was taken on April 1 at 2:32 a.m. PST (5:32 a.m. EST), as Juno performed its twelfth close flyby of Jupiter. At the time the image was taken, the spacecraft was about 7,659 miles (12,326 kilometers) from the tops of the clouds of the planet at a northern latitude of 50.2 degrees.”
The Juno spacecraft, which is meant to orbit Jupiter and collect data regarding it, is almost near to its end after orbiting for more than six years and eight months of its planned seven-year mission.
