Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said that the government has devised a mechanism for introduction of E-governance system, and to fully exploit benefits from information technology, saying that the step would ensure transparency and brining improvement in the existing governance system.
Preliminary, he said that the system would be initiated at department of police, health and revenue on experimental basis, which could be implemented in other institutions in different phases. He was speaking while presiding over a meeting of working group on Science and Information Technology here at his office on Monday. On the occasion, the officials gave a detail briefing to Chief Minister about progress of introduction of E-governance system in the province. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Science and Information Technology, Shahram Tarkzai along with Additional Chief Secretary Finance, Sahibzada Saeed, Secretary Planning and Development Dr Asad Ali, Secretary Information and Technology and other officials were present.
Khattak said that masses would easily access to information through the introduction of E-governance system, adding that the step was also helpful to build relations between the government and general public. The members of working group informed the Chief Minister that the group has so far identified more than 13 fields, in which the E-governance can be easily introduced, including online admission, E-procurement, E-voting, recruitment, target subsidy management, land record, public complaints, along with access to information etc.
Chief Minister directed the authorities to introduce E-governance in distribution of Zakat, and procurement of equipment in health department. The meeting decided to create an Information Technology Board, for bringing improvement in progress of introduction of E-governance system in the province.
Meanwhile, addressing at meeting a separate meeting in which the KP Chief Minister, Pervez Khattak has asked the Commissioner and Deputy commissioners to control profiting, adulteration, hoarding, smuggling, encroachment, cleanliness, traffic and other general public by following the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government change and reforms agenda, till August 15.
He issued instruction while presiding a meeting of divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners here at Chief Minister House on Monday. Pervez Khattak further asked the commissioners to intensify the ongoing campaign against profiteers and hoarders, to give maximum relief to masses during the holy month of Ramazan. He said that the prices review committee at divisional level should be made more effective, and productive, and to ensure checking prices of essential commodities on daily basis. He directed the commissioners to submit their progress reports with next two weeks regarding the implementation of his directives, particularly steps for extending relief to masses during the holy month.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the steps for controlling smuggling of cattle, he said that a effective mechanism should be devised to control the smuggling of animals, and other essential commodities, to ensure required quantity of all food items in the markets.
