At least 18 passengers were burnt to death when a commuter van collided with a truck head on at Indus Highway near here on Tuesday, the police said. The ill-fated passenger van (LES-3527) was on its way to D I Khan from Peshawar when it collided with a truck in front of Poly Technique College at Indus Highway in Karak District.
As a result of head on collision, the CNG cylinder of the passenger van exploded and engulfed the vehicle in flames. The eyewitnesses and the police said the vehicle caught fire in no time and none of the passengers could be retrieved alive. All the sixteen passengers including the driver and cleaner of the passenger van were killed. Local people and fire brigade extinguished the fire after hectic efforts. The bodies were shifted to district headquarters hospital.
