PPP committed a grave mistake: Shahbaz

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan People's Party has committed a democratic mistake by boycotting presidential election, although PPP itself has been getting decisions of its liking from Dogar courts during its previous tenure. He said PPP would soon realise its mistake of boycotting presidential election.
He said only a few parties have boycotted presidential election, while majority of political parties have discharged their democratic responsibility by participating in this election. The Chief Minister was talking to media outside Punjab Assembly Tuesday. Elected representatives were also present on the occasion. Replying to a question, the Chief Minister said that democratic circles have not liked the decision of PPP regarding boycott of presidential election.
He said that it is a democratic error to be soon realised by PPP, as it has given a wrong colour to the decision of the Supreme Court. The Chief Minister said that presidential election has been held in the light of decision of higher judiciary, because Muslims sit in Aitekaf and visit Saudi Arabia for Ummra during the last decade of Ramazan, due to which a large number of Members Assembly would not have been in the country. He said they went to the higher judiciary in good faith, however, when the decision of the Supreme Court regarding changing the schedule of presidential election was announced, PPP boycotted presidential election, while majority of political parities accepted the decision.
The Chief Minister said that PPP and Zardari have forgotten all those decisions which had been made by Dogar courts. He said Dogar courts announced the decision to disqualify Nawaz Sharif and me, at the behest of Zardari, placing ban on us to contest elections for 20 years. He said that these were the same Dogar courts which had taken the oath of loyalty to Musharraf, while we were declared ineligible at the behest of Zardari, but we fought a constitutional battle. He said Zaradi was not a graduate but Dogar courts allowed him to contest presidential election for benefiting him.
