Equities moved both the ways and finally closed in minus column at the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) amid descending transaction volume on Wednesday. The LSE-25 index declined by 03.08 points and was closed at 5044.93 points against 5048.01 points of Tuesday, while transaction volume declined to 02.018 million shares, as compared to previous volume of 02.899 million shares.
According to brokers, the market players are showing cautious response over developments taking place on political horizon of the country. The investors are not ready to take fresh positions ahead of Eid. Mari Petroleum Company Limited, Highnoon Laboratories, HBL, Attock Refinery Limited, Netsol Technologies, Pakistan Telecommunication Company, SSGC, NBP, Engro Polymer & Chemicals Limited and SNGPL registered gains while Exide Pakistan Limited, Engro Corporation Limited, Engro Foods Limited, Dawood Hercules Corporation, Ghazi Fabrics, PPL, Nishat Mills Limited, Pak Elektron Limited, FFC and Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Limited suffered losses and closed in minus column.
The losers were ahead with the gainers, as out of a total of 105 companies, 18 showed strength and were closed in green zone, 31 suffered losses, while 56 companies stayed unchanged at their previous levels. Among the gainers, Mari Petroleum Company Limited gained Rs 9.62, Highnoon Laboratories was improved by Rs 8.83, HBL was appreciated by Rs 3.90, while Attock Refinery Limited, Netsol Technologies, Pakistan Telecommunication Company, SSGC, NBP, Engro Polymer & Chemicals Limited and SNGPL were up by Rs 2.10, Rs 2.07, Rs 1.32, Rs 1.19, paisa-38, paisa-38 and paisa-38, respectively.
On the other hand, Exide Pakistan Limited shed Rs 13.14, Engro Corporation Limited was declined by Rs 2.73, Engro Foods Limited lost Rs 1.10, while Dawood Hercules Corporation, Ghazi Fabrics, PPL, Nishat Mills Limited, Pak Elektron Limited, FFC and Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Limited were down by Rs 1.10, Paisa-96, Paisa-85, Paisa-77, Paisa-75, Paisa-74 and Paisa-73, respectively. The volume leader of the day included Lafarge Pakistan Cement Limited with 399,500 shares, Pakistan Telecommunication Company with 312,000 shares and Byco Petroleum Pakistan Limited with 267,000 shares.
