Opposition in Punjab Assembly came down hard on the government for it policies that have stoked inflation in the country and staged a protest walkout from the house.
Opposition Leader Mahmud-ur-Rashid while criticising the government stated that in a short period of one and half month, the government gave three budgets and tremendously increased prices of electricity and gasoline thus adversely affecting the lives of people.
The opposition lawmakers vowed to launch a movement against government after Eid.
Earlier, a resolution condemning acts of terrorism in the country was unanimously passed. Legislators through the resolution demanded stringent steps against terrorists in the country.
Law Minister Rana Sanaullah while speaking on Local Bodies Bill said that all the good proposals of the opposition would be incorporated in the draft prior to its approval. A number of legislators giving opinion on bill stated that seats in Village and City councils should be increased.
In the discussion, some legislators suggested that local bodies' elections should be held under previous delimitation. A number of legislators suggested that local bodies' polls should be held on non-party basis.
Punjab Law Minister stated that further deliberation on Local Bodies Bill would be made later.
On two Call Attention notices regarding murder of a constable in Rawalpindi and firing on Chinese national in Shadman and increased rate of dacoities in the provincial capital, Law Minister said that steps were already being taken in that direction. On queries regarding Agriculture department, the house was told that provincial government did not give any subsidy on fertiliser. On tractor schemes government gives Rs 2, 00,000 subsidies per tractor, the house was informed.
