The Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) on Thursday announced the result of SSC Part-II Science Group Annual Examination 2013. It also announced that result of SSC Part-I & II Annual Examination 2013 results of deaf candidates. Ammar Samad Khan of the Usman Public School with 791 marks out of the maximum 850, was declared first.
The second position went to Syed Muhammad Usman Ali of Waves Grammar Secondary School, University Road, with 790 marks. Third position was shared by Daniya Ali of Karachi Public School and Karishma Kumari of Defence Authority Model Girls School Phase-IV with 789 marks each.
According to statistics, 137,968 candidates appeared in the examination. Of these 14,055 were placed in the A-I grade and 25,183 in A grade whereas 27,929 in B grade. The number of candidates who got C grade was 22,785 and 9,371 D grade. As many as 329 candidates were placed in E grade while 144 passed with additional subjects. The overall pass percentage in the examination remained at 72.14 as 99,652 were declared as pass. The marks sheets will be issued in 20 days time, the BSEK official said.
For Deaf Students: Nida Shams of Dewa Acadamy for the Deaf secured first position by scoring 749 marks with 88.11 percent. Zainab Ali Akbar and Maryam Ali of Dewa Acadamy bagged second and third positions respectively The loadshedding had interpreted my exams preparations; however I managed to cover my loss by giving extra time to my studies," a position- holder told this correspondent.
Position holders said prolonged and unannounced power outages was the biggest problem faced by city in particular and country in general. "Deteriorating law and order situation in city has also hit students badly as they faced difficulties to reach the institutions on time," they added. Addressing the ceremony Chairman Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) said that quality of examination papers would be improved in the next year and would also avoid repetition in the questions papers.
He said that BSEK has been assisting Centralised Admission Committee (CAC) for the HSC Part-admissions in city's public sector colleges. Secretary BSEK Hoor Mazhar was also present on this occasion. Controller Examination BSEK Noman Ahsan said that board was preparing Question Bank so as to enhance the quality of question papers.
