The mighty Indus is in low flood at Tarbela, Kalabagh, Chashma, Guddu and Sukkur and rising whereas rivers Kabul at Nowshera and Chenab at Marala are also in low flood after widespread monsoon rains in the upper catchment areas of the rivers.
In its hydrological situation report, the Flood Forecasting Division said on Friday that Nullahs of Rivers Chenab & Ravi (Bhimber, Bhunder, Palku, Aik, Hasri, Deg, Basantar, Daulti & Bien) and tributaries of River Kabul and Hill Torrents of D.G. Khan division alongwith Nullahs of Eastern Balochistan may attain Medium to High Flood level during next two-days.
It further stated that heavy falls are expected at scattered places of Nasirabad, Zhob and Kalat divisions that may cause flash flooding in the local streams of vulnerable areas of Balochistan. Weather forecast for Saturday: Widespread thunderstorm, rain with heavy falls at scattered places and very heavy falls at isolated places is expected over the upper catchments of Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Sutlej & Beas along with Northern Punjab (Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Sargodha & Faisalabad Divisions) & Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Scattered thunderstorm, rain with isolated heavy falls is expected over Southern Punjab, Sindh, eastern Balochistan and Makran division. Nullahs of Rivers Chenab & Ravi (Bhimber, Bhunder, Palku, Aik, Hasri, Deg, Basantar, Daulti & Bien) & tributaries of River Kabul and Hill Torrents of D.G. Khan division along with Nullahs of eastern Balochistan may attain Medium to high flood level.
Weather next 48 hrs: Rain-thundershower is expected at Isolated places of Kashmir, Islamabad, Upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore divisions) KP, Northeast Balochistan, southern Sindh. Weather past 24 hrs: Rain-thundershower occurred at scattered places of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Malakand, Hazara division, Kashmir, while isolated places of Peshawar, Multan, Bahawalpur, Makran, Hyderabad, Sukkur division & Gilgit-Baltistan.
