The Supreme Court on Monday directed Higher Education Commission (HEC) to file a reply whether Strafford University London exist or not in Nader Magsi fake degree case. A two-judge bench headed by Anwar Zaheer Jamali and comprising Justice Azmat Saeed also directed HEC to inform the bench on next date of hearing that if it exists then it was a chartered university or not. During the course of proceeding, Mian Abd-ur-Rauf, counsel for petitioner
Mir Gaybi Khan Mugairi, took a plea that Magsi's degree was fake and he was disqualified by election tribunal under article 62-F in general elections 2013. Hafiz Pirzada, counsel for Nadir Magsi, apprised the bench that his client was not disqualified having fake degree but his degree was not equivalent to the bachelor degree. On the bench's query, counsel for HEC replied that he was unaware about the status of the said university and requested one week time to file comprehensive reply. Later the bench adjourned further hearing of the case for indefinite period.
