Chief of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf's (PTI) Ulema and Mashaikh wing, Maulana Mufti Abdul Qavi, on Tuesday warned Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to refrain from 'shameful mudslinging' against Imran Khan. In a joint statement along with chief of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ulema-i-Mashaikh chief of PTI besides 140 district level sectaries of PTI's religious wing, Qavi, in a strongly worded statement came down hard on Maulana Fazl, saying that levelling baseless allegations against anybody is contrary to 'Quran' and 'Sunnah'.
The religious wing of PTI rolled up sleeves after Maulana Fazal and co constantly targeted PTI chairman Imran Khan, accusing him of being a 'Jewish lobby agent', for which Imran has already decided to sue the heavyweight religious cleric. They said that it did not augur well for a religio-political leader like JUI-F chief not to follow the teachings of Islam and misuse the name of religious for gaining political mileage. "We want to tell the cleric [Maulana Fazl] to use wisdom, follow the divine path of Quran and Sunnah so that people should take him as a religious scholar," they added.
They continued that Islam strictly forbids misusing the name of religion for political gains and character assassination of a person. "The approach of Maulana Fazl creates bad name for the religion [and] this is the reason the religious circles of KP rejected him in May 11 general elections," they added. They went on to say that Pakistanis especially millions of people living in KP consider PTI as their own political party and love its founder Imran Khan. In the recently held general election, they added, people of KP proved that Imran Khan is a bold, brave and an honest Muslim.
"This is a fact that people of Pakistan particularly PML-Q, PPP, PML-N and defunct MMA know that Maulana Fazl's role has always remained un-Islamic, unethical and even inhuman," they maintained. A humiliating defeat in KP during May 11 general elections, they added, has mentally paralysed Maulna. The religious wing of PTI also passed a joint resolution and called upon Maulana Fazl to seek forgiveness from Allah almighty for what they called his 'un-Islamic, inhuman attitude and unethical statements'. They also warned that if the cleric did not stop from his political statements, the religious wing of PTI along with their leader will drag him to the court.
