The number of Benevolent Fund Merit Scholarships for the children of provincial government employees at each level ie SSC, FA/FSc, BA/BSc and MA/MSc has been increased from 10 to 50 and doubled its rates. The new rates of merit scholarships for SSC would be Rs 16,000, for FA/FSc Rs 20,000, for BA/BSc Rs 40,000 and for MA/MSc Rs 48,000.
Decision to this effect was made in a meeting of the Board of Management of Government Employees of Benevolent Fund, held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Shahzad Arbab at Civil Secretariat, Peshawar. The meeting beside others was also attended by the SMBR, Members of the Board of Management and Benevolent Cell.
The meeting besides reviewing the implementation on the decisions of the last meeting, also deliberated upon the future plan of action and taken certain decisions in the interest of the government employees. The meeting was also briefed on the income and expenditures of the benevolent fund. The meeting also approved enhancement in security of the benevolent fund building and asked the authorities concerned to prepare a master plan for the proposed Block-II of the Benevolent Fund in the vacant adjacent area.
Taking notice of the non-constitution of Special Standing Medical Boards in Dera Ismail Khan and Shangla districts and Khyber, Mohmand, Orakzai and North-Waziristan Agencies, the Chief Secretary directed the Commissioners concerned to establish the same boards within 3 months. Shahzad Arbab further directed the authorities concerned of Benevolent Fund to make best use of the resources of the fund in the interest of the government employees. He also directed to take immediate steps for increasing the resources and income of the Benevolent Fund and start maximum schemes for the welfare of the employees.
