After the regulation time ended with scores locked at 5-5 following a thrilling encounter in the summit clash, PIA eventually made the difference in penalty shootouts, overpowering WAPDA 3-2 to claim NBP Hockey Gold Cup Hockey Tournament on Saturday at National Hockey Stadium in Lahore.
Kashif Ali was the hero for PIA in the final match as the player scored four goals in the regulation time and also converted his penalty shoot. Azfar Yaqoob scored one in regulation time and also converted his penalty shoot. Mohammad Zubair also converted his penalty shoot.
Sohail Abbas scored twice in the regulation time for WAPDA. Shahbaz, Aleem Bilal and Usman scored one each in regulation time. Captain Mohammad Waqas Sharif and Tasawar Abbas were the only ones for WAPDA to score in penalty shootouts. Meanwhile, Army claimed third place on the podium after it defeated Navy by 2-0 score on penalty shootouts after the regulation time ended with 2-2 draw. Army's Jabbar and Safeer Hussain scored in regulation time while Hussain Arfi and Habib converted their respective penalty shoots. Mohsin Sabir and Ibrar Hussain scored one each for Navy.
