Ameer, Jamaat-i-Islami, Syed Munawar Hasan has strongly condemned US-India collusion to obstruct the funding of the Haqqani network and the Lashkar-e-Taiba, saying that the step was totally unjustified especially after the statements by an Indian general and a senior Foreign Ministry official that no foreign hand was involved in major terrorist attacks, including those at the Indian parliament and the Mumbai attacks.
Talking to JI workers at Mansoora, he said that in spite of the confession by Indian high officials that the Indian government had set up a special force for carrying out terrorist activities in Pakistan and that no Pakistani was involved in terrorism in India, the US was patronising India. He said there was dozens of terrorist outfits in India whose hands were soaked with the blood of the Indian Muslims. In fact, he said, the US wanted to build the regional balance in the region in favour of India and was also provoking India to attack this country.
The JI Ameer said, the US herself was shedding the blood of innocent Muslims in different parts of the country and had killed millions in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. India and Israel had been unlawfully occupying Kashmir and Palestine for over a half century, and the Muslims of both these occupied areas were struggling for their freedom. But the US, the so called champion of human rights and civil liberties, was supporting the aggressor India and Israel instead of the oppressed Muslims while the United Nations was not interested in stopping the genocide of the oppressed Muslims due to the US pressure.
Munawar Hasan said the Taliban had stated many time that the Pakistan government was not serious in talks with them. The government, he said, was not giving any importance to the APC resolution and was acting against the wishes of the nation. He said the demand from the Taliban to lay down arms would look reasonable when the government decided cease-fire, stopped the use of force and appeared to be willing to resolve the issue through dialogue. He said, so far, the government was not ready to pull out troops from Swat where all hospitals and educational institutions were in the troops control. He said as long as the government did not adopt a free and independent foreign policy and continued to follow the US dictation, terrorist activities would continue.
Munawar Hasan said the Taliban should also present their agenda for talks, and they should present their terms and reservations through their mediators and not through the media. He said the Taliban had complained of the government attitude and said they could not be compelled for talks on gun point. The government would also like to give a positive response. Therefore, both the sides should go ahead by taking each other into confidence.
