Eidul Azha, commemorating the supreme sacrifice offered by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and his son Hazrat Ismail (AS) in the fulfilment of the Divine order, was celebrated here with religious fervour. Eid congregations were held at mosques, Imam Bargahs and open places amid adequate security cover adopted by the law-enforcing agencies. Policemen in plain clothes and uniform were deployed at Eid congregations.
Ulema and religious scholars in their sermons called for forging unity to tackle the challenges. They highlighted the significance of the day and the sublime objective of the sacrifice rendered by Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) centuries ago. Prayers were offered for the prosperity, solidarity and integrity of the country and for the liberation of Muslim occupied territories including the Indian held Jammu and Kashmir.
In Lahore, the faithful offered Eid prayers at over 900 mosques, Eidgahs and Imam Bargahs, besides open places. The biggest Eid congregation was held at Badshahi Mosque where thousands of faithful offered prayers and sought the blessings of Almighty Allah.
