Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan has called for Turkish investment in Pakistan to help meet the economic challenges. He was talking to a Turkish delegation consisting of investors as well as representatives of the non-government organisations (NGOs) at the Governor House here on Sunday. A Governor House statement said that the delegation had brought meat of sacrificial animals for distribution among those in need.
Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad recalled that in the 2005 quake the first relief team that had arrived in Pakistan was from Turkey. He said that in the case of any natural calamity or challenge Turkey was forthcoming in service to the cause of humanity. The governor also spoke of the very close friendly ties between Pakistan and Turkey. He said that it is the desire of the government that Turkey should invest in Pakistan to help it meet the economic challenges.
Ebad said that there are certain sectors in which the co-operation of the two countries is continuing. However, he stressed that such collaboration would have to be enhanced further in trade also. The Governor also called for further collaboration in agriculture, livestock, energy and infrastructure development etc. He said that Karachi is the economic and commercial hub and most suitable city for investment. Ebad was of the view that investment in Karachi would help spur development process in Pakistan. The members of the delegation said that they too have the same feelings and that they would endeavour to benefit from the investment opportunities. The delegation also extended the Eid greetings to the Sindh Governor.
