An impressive launching ceremony of famous humour and satire book 'Babunagar' was held in New Delhi the other day, which was presided over by Professor Siddiqur Rehman Qidvai. Addressing the ceremony arranged by Ghalib Academy, senior Indian journalist of Rashteria Sahara Manzoor Usmani said the land of Punjab was very fertile and the 'Humour River' should be called as the sixth river of province.
He said frequent literary gatherings should be allowed at Wagah border for enhancing people to people contacts and bringing journalists and writers of the two countries closer. Professor Siddiqur Rehman Qidvai, in his presidential address, regretted the inconsistent supply of Pakistani journals and periodicals in India. Israr Jamaie, Shahbaz Nadeem Ziai, Ahmed Alvi, Iqbal Firdousai and others recited their poetry on the occasion, while KL Narang Saqi of Indian Cultural Society thanked the guests, said a message received from New Delhi.
Book's author Syed Hussain Ahmed Sherazi said it was the responsibility of writers to create a literature which could help bring together the people of Pakistan and India as the lack of co-ordination could spread hatred. The chronic issues being confronted by both the countries could be resolved by enhancing people to people contacts and frequent bilateral meetings and gatherings, he said. Mukesh Amrovhai and Secretary Ghalib Academy Dr Aqeel Ahmed acted as stage secretaries. At the very outset, the message of Mujtaba Hussain was read out. Renowned poet Mateen Amrohvai recited the poetic review of "Babunagar". He lauded the expertise and humour sense of Syed Hussain Ahmed Sherazi.
