Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has constituted ten teams headed by assistant commissioners, magistrates, assistant directors and Secretary Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA) to implement the anti-dengue measures and supervise the fumigation drive. Progress of on-going anti-dengue drive in the rural areas of Islamabad was reviewed by Deputy Commissioner at a meeting held on Sunday under chairmanship of Amer Ali Ahmed.
In charge Dengue Control Surveillance Cell, ICT, Dr Najeeb Durrani told the participants that the public health education campaign about preventive measures against dengue and raising awareness among the people was continuing successfully in the Capital.
The teams have conducted visits of 490 schools, 15274 houses in the rural areas and delivered 130 lectures in the community, he added. Deputy Commissioner Amer Ali Ahmed directed the District Health Officer, Islamabad, to launch fumigation and larvacidal activity in the city and rural areas from Monday. He constituted 10 teams headed by the Assistant Commissioners, Magistrates, AD, Food, AD, Civil Defence and Secretary, Islamabad Transport Authority to implement the anti-dengue measures and supervise the fumigation drive.
He also directed the staff of Local Government and Revenue Department to ensure cleanliness in the rural areas and proper disposal of solid waste.
The meeting was attended by the AIG (Operations) Sultan Azam Temuri, DHO Islamabad and assistant commissioners. The special teams constituted to monitor the drive include Bhara Kau team to be headed by the AC (Secretariat), while Shezad Town, Tarlai, Margalla Town and Sohan team to be looked after by Magistrate (Sectt), and Sihala, and Humak team to be headed by AC (Rural).
Similarly, Saddar Sub-Division area would be looked after by AC(Saddar), Industrial Area and F-8 team would be headed by AC(Industrial), Kirpa, Chirah, Tumair and Shalimar area would be looked after by AC(Shalimar).
City area team would be headed by AC(City) and assisted by Assistant Director (Food) while Shakrial, IJ Principal and Highway area would be looked after by the Secretary, ITA. Staff of Local Government and Revenue Department would also assist the teams.
