Equities on Tuesday staged recovery on the Lahore Stock Exchange and registered gains across the board amid decreased trading turnover. The LSE-25 index was improved by 67.23 points to close at 4266.79 against 4199.56 of Monday, while transaction volume was squeezed to 1.466 million shares compared with day earlier volume of 1.725 million shares.
The market was opened on a positive sign and stayed in green zone throughout the day. The investors made fresh entries in fertiliser, oil, cement and banking sectors that kept the market in bullish zone. As a result, Engro Corporation, Fauji Fertiliser, Attock Refinery, PPL, Engro Foods, Treet Corporation, DG Khan Cement, Fauji Cement, National Bank, Bank Alfalah, Faysal Bank, Bank of Punjab, PTCL and PIA recorded gains. However, Flying Cement, Pioneer Cement, Lotte Chemical Pakistan and Summit Bank remained under selling pressure.
The advancing stocks were ahead of the declining ones, as out of a total of 83 active issues, 26 companies posted gains, seven stayed in negative zone while 50 companies remained unchanged at their last day closing. Engro Corporation gained Rs 4.62, Attock Refinery was improved by Rs 4.15, while PPL and Engro Foods were appreciated by Rs 3.17 and Rs 3.08, respectively.
In the minus column, Flying Cement lost 11-paisa, Pioneer Cement was declined by 5-paisa while Lotte Chemical Pakistan and Summit Bank shed 4-paisa each. Faysal Bank was the market leader whose 333,500 shares changed hands followed by NIB Bank with 223,500 shares.
