Climate change experts in a day-long journalist workshop on Thursday stressed upon media to mainstream the issue of climate change not just as an environmental issue, but as a development and economic challenge. The workshop titled "Taking Pakistan to COP19" was organised on the eve of UN Climate Change Conference (COP19) by LEAD Pakistan and Heinrich Boll Stiftung as an awareness session for the national media to inform them about the importance of this forum for Pakistan, and how to report on it.
The 19th Conference of the parties will be held from November 11-22 in Warsaw, Poland. Delegations from all over the world including Pakistan will attend the conference. The Pakistani delegation will be led by Additional Secretary In-charge climate change division Raja Hasan Abbas, while Director General Climate Change Division Irfan Tariq and CEO LEAD Pakistan Ali Tauqeer Sheikh will also be part of Pakistan's official delegation.

Chief guest Dr Qamar-uz-Zaman Chaudhry, Former DG Metrological Department and Senior Advisor LEAD Pakistan said that it is high time that media should take climate change not just as an environmental issue, but as a development and economic challenge. -PR
