Drive against dengue: no laxity or negligence to be tolerated: chief minister Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has directed that anti-dengue campaign be continued vigorously and a case be registered against the owner if dengue larva is found at any building. He said that no laxity or negligence will be tolerated in the drive against dengue.
Addressing anti-dengue meeting at Commissioner Office Rawalpindi through video conference from Lahore Sunday, the Chief Minister stressed upon elected representatives and heads of departments to play an active role for saving human lives. He said that cleanliness conditions be further improved while special attention be paid to indoor surveillance. He said that besides efforts against dengue, anti-polio campaign should also be followed actively and elected representatives and government officers should play their due role in this regard. Moreover, elected representatives, ticket holders and concerned officials should personally visit streets and mohallas to review anti-dengue arrangements. The Chief Minister further directed that special attention be paid to the checking of under-construction buildings and useless tyres be cut into pieces and disposed of properly. He said that a close co-ordination be maintained with federal ministries and institutions. The Chief Minister issued orders for the posting of EDO Health, EDO Education and DO Environment Rawalpindi as OSD for showing negligence in the campaign against dengue. He said that stern action will be taken against those showing laxity towards anti-dengue drive. Provincial Minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, assembly members, former MNA Hanif Abbasi, Commissioner and DCO Rawalpindi as well as concerned officials were present.
