The Karachi Port handled 79,917 tonnes of cargo comprising 75,188 tonnes of import cargo and 4,729 tonnes of export cargo including 2,303 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 75,188 tonnes comprised of 24,376 tonnes of containerised cargo; 101 tonnes of general cargo; 11,133 tonnes of bulk cargo and 39,578 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 4,729 tonnes comprised of 4,348 tonnes of containerised cargo; 20 tonnes of general cargo and 361 tonnes of bulk cargo. As many as 2,303 containers comprising 1,674 containers import and 629 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 646 of 20's and 514 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 73 of 20's and 106 of 40's loaded containers while 172 of 20's and 86 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There are four ships namely Hanjin Montevideo, Adafera, Samjohan Light and Kronos Island carrying containers, oil tanker, bulk cargo and DAP respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There are six vessels viz Hyundai Jakarta, UASC Samarra, ACX Diamond, Dong A Tyche, Moonray and Yuan Hang carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There are four ships namely UASC Samarra, ACX Diamond, Dong A Tyche and Spar Lynx carrying containers, oil tanker and DAP sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while two ships namely Hyundai Jakarta and Kota Ganteng carrying containers respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
There are two vessels viz Wan Hai 503 and Oriental Freesia carrying containers and ethanol respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while eight vessels viz MSC Kerry, Ever Pearl, Sagamore, Venezia, APL Sokhna, Songa Opal, DE Violet and Common Faith carrying containers, tallow oil, chemical and coal respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 100,286 tonnes comprising 71,481 tonnes of import cargo and 28,805 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 3,005 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 71,481 tonnes includes 25,551 tonnes of diesel oil; 8,500 tonnes of palm oil and 37,430 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 28,805 tonnes includes 9,140 tonnes of cement and 19,665 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,005 containers comprising 1,970 containers import and 1,035 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There are two ships namely CV Al-Abdali and MT Quetta carrying containers and oil tanker sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely CV Sealand Washington with containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels viz CV Sealand Washington, CV Al-Abdali, MV CMB Coralie, MV Alam Sayang, MV Lito, MT Ardmore Centurion and MT Quetta are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, sunflower seeds, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eight ships namely Beacon Sin, Elini-D, Theo Flaktos, Al-Soor-II, Al-Naser, Ocean Brother, Oceanus-9 and Maritime Suzanne carrying wheat, sunflower seeds, diesel oil, coal, fertiliser, LPG and palm oil are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
There are three vessels viz CV CMA CGM Verdi, MT Al-Soor-II and MT Oceanus-9 with containers, diesel oil and LPG expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There is one ship namely MV Ellensborg carrying project cargo due to arrive on Wednesday, while two more ships namely CV Kerstin-S and APL Oman with containers are due to arrive on Thursday. As many as two vessels viz CV MSC Kerry and CV MSC Clementina carrying containers are also due to arrive as per schedule.
