The Lahore High Court Chief Justice here on Thursday remarked that health affairs were appeared to be at the bottom of Punjab government's priority list and one-man show reigned in the province. The CJ was hearing a petition that questioned alleged failure of the government to control deaths by dengue and sought action against responsible authorities.
The petitioner's counsel, Azhar Siddique, argued that many awareness seminars were held by government on dengue but failed to adopt proper practical measures. He, therefore, prayed to the court to seek detailed report from Punjab government. A law officer told the court that the government had been working sincerely to control the dengue outbreak. He said Secretary and Director General Health Punjab had been replaced and their successors were taking effective measures. The CJ asked the law officer to apprise the court whether the Punjab government made any policy to eliminate dengue outbreak.
