The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said all open lands, islands and land under the sea up to twelve nautical miles are the legal property of Sindh government and no other authority has right to claim ownership or allot or bring under its possession or utilise without consent or agreement with Sindh Government. This he said while presiding over the meeting regarding transfer of govt land to Port Qasim Authority held at CM House Karachi Monday.
The Chief Secretary Sindh Sajjad Saleem Hotiana, Chairman Port Qasim Authority, Principal Secretary to CM Rai Sikkandar, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Member Land Utilisation, Secretary Law Advocate General Sindh and DG Qasim Port and Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddique attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that he is heading a democratic government, elected by people of Sindh and he is the custodian of the land within the territorial limits of Sindh and he will not allow any individual or organisation to even encroach upon one inch of the land of the Sindh province, illegally, which the government holds in trust on behalf of people of Sindh. The Chief Minister Sindh heard to the officers of the Board of Revenue and Port Qasim Authority in relation to dispute arising from allotment of land by Sindh Government to the Port Qasim Authority. In order to resolve the matter the Chief Minister Sindh constituted a committee headed by Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddique, with representatives each from Board of Revenue, Port Qasim Authority, Provincial Law Department, consultant of Revenue Department to examine and evaluate the matter and directed the committee to submit report to him at the earliest with reference to allotment of land to the Port Qasim Authority in 1973. The committee is also assigned to examine whether the land allotted to Port Qasim Authority was being utilised for the purpose allotted for. The Officers of Board of Revenue informed the meeting that Qasim Port had been allotted 13,000 Acres of Land in 1973 for operating Port and industrialisation purpose and the Authority is bound not to use the land for other purposes. They further said as per law of the land, in case of non payment, or no use of allotted land within specific period or using it for other purpose, the allotment of the said land stands cancelled, and return to provincial Government. The Chief Minister also made it clear that all open lands, island and land under the sea water up to twelve nautical miles is the property of Sindh Government which would be protected at any cost. He also took the notice of some organisation involved in reclaiming the sea land and using for commercial purpose. He asked the officers to issue the legal notices to all such individuals and organisations to avoid from this illegal practice failing which the government of Sindh to take this matter as per law of the land. He further observed that all land reclaimed by any body or authority belongs to and vest in the Government of Sindh exclusively.-PR
