Chairman Gorakh Hill Development Authority (GHDA), MNA Sardar Rafiq Ahmed Jamali has directed to speed up the development schemes on Gorakh Hill resort to provide recreational facilities of a hill station to the people of the province. He was presiding over a meeting of GHDA to review the progress of work on the scheme here on Tuesday.
Sindh Secretary for Tourism Saeed Ahmed Awan, Gorakh Hill Development Authority (GHDA) Director General Iqbal Saeed Khan, Project Director Tasneem Raza Arain, and Account Officer Abdul Sattar Somroo attended the meeting. The GHDA DG further briefed the Chairman that the GHDA has prepared feasibility study report for the project which has suggested a development plan as well.
It was further stated that the preliminary surveys undertaken, suggested that the access road from Wahi Pandi to Gorakh Hill summit (56kms) needs to be improved to make it safe, secure and easily accessible for the tourists. The Chairman was further briefed that a detailed topographic survey and geo-technical study was underway to ensure that the access road could be designed accordingly.
Chairman took note of the project and stressed upon the authorities concerned to clear all hurdles coming in the way of completion of this very auspicious project. He reviewed the progress in detail and directed for the immediate road accessibility for tourists, particularly the road leading from Wahi Pandi to Gorakh Hills. He emphasised that linkages be developed between Gorakh and other tourist sites abroad.
While talking to media, Sardar Rafiq Ahmed Jamali said that present government was focusing on the development of local tourist spots to provide income and recreational opportunities to the common man who could not afford to go outside the province or county. He further said that whenever PPP government came into power it took keen interest in the development of Gorakh Hill. He further said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah ensured him of providing funds for Gorakh Hill station.
