The fourth edition of livestock, dairy, fisheries, poultry, and agriculture exhibition (LDFA-2014) is going to be held from March 1 here. This was stated by provincial minister for agriculture Sardar Ali Nawaz Khan Mahar and Sindh minister for livestock and fisheries Jam Khan Shoro at a press briefing held at Sindh Board of Investment (SBI), here on Wednesday.
They said that all arrangements for LDFA-2014 had been finalised and added that this two-day event was aimed at attracting foreign and domestic investment in these potential sectors. Replying to a question, they said that Sindh government had finalised business deals worth Rs 1 billion in the last expo and hoped to cross the said amount in LDFA-2014.
They said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah will inaugurate the exhibition, which was an annual feature of SBI and Sindh government to showcase potential opportunities in agriculture, livestock, dairy, fisheries and others sectors. They said the event would also facilitate trade and commerce in the province as around 70 percent of the country's population was directly or indirectly linked to agriculture.
The LDFA-2014 will be attended by a number of participants, including diplomats, foreign and domestic businessmen and investors, banking and investment professionals, representatives from federal and provincial governments. They said that the agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and culture departments were working closely with SBI and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation to organise the event.
They said that that on the sidelines of the main exhibition and seminar, this event will also include horse and cattle show, pet show, flower show, bird show and fish show for the attraction of the visitors. The first day of the LDFA 2014 is planned to be featured by a comprehensive seminar on the theme "Sustaining Economic Growth by Value Addition and Value Chain in Livestock, Dairy, Fisheries, Poultry and Agriculture Products" characterised by speeches and presentation from renowned and prestigious academicians, experts and entrepreneurs.
