A high-level meeting was held here at the Karachi Port Trust on Wednesday, which was chaired by Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Kamran Michael. The meeting was also attended by Ports and Shipping Secretary Habibullah Khan Khattak, Ports and Shipping Director General, PNSC Chairman, PQA Chairman and KPT Chairman.
The meeting discussed power production through coal, improving the handling of coal imports besides the storage and transportation of coal. The Minister was informed about fixation of three berths exclusively for coal handling at the Karachi Port, which would be transported to power houses through railway bogeys.
He was also informed that terminal facilities had been upgraded and that the handling and transportation of cargo would now be possible round the clock.
The Minister was also briefed about the mega projects of KPT like Pakistan Deep Water Container Port, Harbour Crossing Bridge and Cargo Village.
Later, the Minister and Co-ordinator on Energy, Chief Minister Office, Punjab, Nadeem Aslam Choudhry, witnessed the coal handling facilities.-PR
