Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, has opposed the inclusion of Pakistan Army in the committee engaged in peace talks with the Taliban. Talking to a private news channel, Fazl said that representation of Army in the committee engaged in peace dialogues with the TTP would spoil the entire process.
He said that such a step would lower the dignity of the national institution and increase the position of non-state actors.
"Is the defence establishment out of the control of political government that such suggestions are being put forward," he questioned.
Fazl said that his party would have supported the suggestion of resolving the matter through a 'Jirga'. To a question, the JUI-F chief said that the new committee will also fail like the previous committee.
