United Bank UK (UBL UK) - a subsidiary of United Bank Limited and National Bank of Pakistan on Thursday launched its agent-based money transfer service, UBL Omni. UBL UK is the first UK regulated bank which is offering a money transfer service through a network of authorised agents. This service will enable the Pakistani diaspora living in the UK to transfer money within minutes to their loved ones in Pakistan.
Currently only offered to Pakistan, this is a vital service for those who do not have access to banking or to the internet. Through this facility, the customers can make remittances at competitive exchange rates from their nearest agent without paying a fee. The beneficiary can receive cash in Pakistan within minutes at more than 1,200 UBL branches in Pakistan or receive direct credit in account at any of the 38 banks operating in Pakistan or through more than 6,500 ATMs.
The launch ceremony of UBL Omni was held at the Millennium Hotel Mayfair in London. Sir Anwar Pervez OBE HPk - Chairman BESTWAY Group and UBL Pakistan - was the guest of honour. Present on the occasion were Zameer Choudrey CEO BESTWAY Group, Atif R. Bokhari President United Bank Limited (UBL), Mansoor M Khan CEO UBL UK and other notable dignitaries from all over the city. "UBL UK continues to build upon its successful presence in the UK money transfer market, specialising in the UK to Pakistan corridor" said Zameer Choudrey. He further stated "UBL Omni aims to make the service more accessible to overseas Pakistanis and to further strengthen the ties between the Bank and the community. We are also leveraging our relationship by encouraging BESTWAY Retailers to become part of UBL Omni network." Atif R. Bokhari said "United Bank Limited processes the highest number of remittances, both transaction and volume wise, in Pakistan.-PR
