Three Pakistanis have been selected for the World Economic Forum's, Young Global Leaders program (YGLs). The YGL's from Pakistan are Ali Jehangir Siddiqui, CEO of Mahvash & Jahangir Siddiqui Foundation, Sabeen Mahmud, Founder of T2F and Mosharraf Zaidi, Founder of Alif Ailaan. These leaders have been recognised for their outstanding work in their respective fields of promoting social change to eliminate the existing barriers to opportunities and helping people in need reach their fullest potential.
The Forum of Young Global Leaders (YGLs) is a unique, multi-stakeholder community of more than 900 exceptional young leaders. Set up as an independent, not-for-profit foundation under the Swiss government. the Forum of Young Global Leaders is an integral part of the World Economic Forum (WEF). The aim of the Geneva-based Young Global Leaders program is to engage business, political, academic and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas during the YGL's 6 year-term appointments.
"The YGL Community assembles the world's most outstanding next-generation leaders who have a proven record of extraordinary achievements and helps them further develop in their leadership journey," stated WEF Managing Director and Head of New Champions David Aikman.
The Young Global Leader Class of 2014 is a select group drawn from the worlds of business, arts and culture, civil society, academia, government, media and non-profit organisations. This year's class of Young Global Leaders (YGLs) come from 66 countries across 7 regions and equally represents the public and private sector. Out of the total 214 YGLs honoured, 109 are women. Some other personalities honoured by WEF as young global leaders in the past include Larry Page, Co-Founder Google, Mark Zuckerberg, Founder Facebook, Rahul Gandhi and Chelsea Clinton of Clinton Foundation.-PR
