The Aviation Authority of Pakistan has found no clue about the whereabouts of a missing Malaysian jetliner as the search for Flight MH370 extended to 26 countries. An official of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) states that Malaysian Airliner has a huge body and requires at least 10,000-fot-long runway for landing. This facility of landing for such a huge body is only available at Karachi, Peshawar, Lahore, Islamabad and Multan airports.
The official further said that CAA has yet to dispatch any team of aviation experts to Malaysia to assist the international community in finding the missing airliner. The government may have received the request but the Authority has yet to be informed, he added. "We have checked the radar recording for the period but found no clue about the ill-fated flight," the Civil Aviation Authority said in a statement.
Another official of Ministry of Defence rubbished media reports that appeared in some international publications claiming that the missing airliner may have landed in Pakistan. The officials said it is a deliberate attempt to defame Pakistan by linking the missing airliner with Taliban. The media reports are trying to establish that Taliban are behind the hijacking of the airliner. President Pakistan Airline Pilots' Association, Captain Aamir Hashmi (Retd) told Business Recorder that commercial flights can make a non-stop flight over half of the world depending on the load and fuel.
"The missing Malaysian Airliner could reach Pakistan if it had enough fuel. The distance between the point where Malaysian authority lost the communication signals with airliner and Pakistan is a six-hour flight," he said. He further said the airliner requires 60 tons of fuel to reach Pakistan as it consumes 7 to 8 tons of fuel per hour depending on the load. He further said that this airliner could fly non-stop from Pakistan to the United States.
He maintained that the general practice for airplanes is to take fuel from one destination to another destination as any additional fuel adds to the load carried and increases the fuel consumption. Replying to a question, he said it requires a 10,000-foot-long proper runway for landing and this facility in Pakistan is only available at major airports.
Sirajul Mulk, a retired commercial pilot said the missing airliner could not across the territory of any country without the radars picking up its flight path. "It is 100 percent impossible that the missing airliner could enter any country without appearing on radars," he added. The airliner transponder device tells the radar system the position of the airplane. He rejected the possibility of a plane flying for hours above the country undetected.
In a telecommunication, a transponder is one of two types of devices. In air navigation or radio frequency identification, a flight transponder is a device that emits an identifying signal in response to an interrogating received signal, he explained. Meanwhile, Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed negated the impression that Airliner MH 370 landed in Pakistan.
Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 vanished on March 8 about an hour into its flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people aboard and investigators are now increasingly convinced it was diverted thousands of miles off the course. The Malaysia government said it had sent diplomatic notes to all countries along an arc of northern and southern search corridors, including India and Pakistan, requesting radar and satellite information as well as land, sea and air search operations.
