Newly-appointed Chief Executive of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), S M Muneer, has said that the government is making all-out efforts to overcome power shortage and improve law and order situation to provide conducive environment to businesses so that they can grow and bring positive change in the country.
Speaking at a reception hosted by Chairman Hilton Pharma, Sardar Yaseen Mailk, and President All Karachi Industrial Alliance Mian Zahid Hussain on his appointment as CE on Monday evening, he said that the industry had suffered a lot due to loadshedding and gas shortage.
He was of the view that without electricity the wheel of industry can not run. Muneer said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was working on a policy to bring the country out of the multifaceted crisis, which may take two to three years. Referring to TDAP, he said that there was no room for corrupt officials in TDAP. "They have to be honest, work hard and make dedicated efforts to enhance country's exports," he made it clear.
He further said that he had accepted the position on three conditions that he would not take any remuneration or benefit, he would have the authority to hire and fire and his advices would be followed for the promotion of trade. Former Sindh Minster for Industries, Abdul Rauf Siddiqui advised the business community to give up their differences, get united and support S. M. Muneer for boosting exports.
Mian Zahid Hussain said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif took the right decision of appointing TDAP Chief Executive from private sector. He added that Muneer had enough experience to properly manage TDAP and make efforts to increase country's exports. President FPCCI, Zikrya Usman called for efforts to boost regional trade, which would be helpful in increasing Pakistan exports.
