Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan wants to have friendly relations with all the countries of the region and PML-N is pursuing an effective policy in this regard. He said that there is a need to resolve all issues with India including Kashmir through a meaningful dialogue. He said this while talking to Shuja Nawaz, member of Washington-based Think Tank South Asia Centre, who met him on Friday.
Matters of mutual interest, Pak-India relations and regional situation were discussed in the meeting. Provincial Minister for Irrigation Yawar Zaman, Minister for Industry Muhammad Shafique, Member Provincial Assembly Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Secretary Industry, Secretary Information, Chairman Punjab Investment Board and concerned officers were also present. The CM said that there should be maximum exchange of delegations between Pakistan and India. He said that there is a need to increase the volume of trade between the two countries.
Referring to energy shortage in Pakistan, Shahbaz said that government is taking all possible steps to overcome energy crisis in the country. He said that government has selected six sites for setting up coal based power plants and a prominent Chinese company has showed interest in setting up coal power plants in Sahiwal. The CM said that economy of the country is improving due to timely and solid steps taken by PML-N government led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while foreign investment has also increased. He said that special incentives are being offered to foreign investors in energy, infrastructure and other sectors.
