A sixteen-inch diameter gas pipeline running from Pirkoh gas field wells No 15, 16 and 29 to the plant was blown up, here on Sunday. Sources in security forces said that the miscreants blew up a 16-inch diameter pipeline in Pir Koh, which completely cut off gas supply from the wells to the plant in Dera Bugti.
Security forces and officials of concerned department rushed to blast site. They closed gas supply to the plant and after ensuring security arrangements, started repair work of the damaged pipeline.
Meanwhile, police in Rahimyar Khan foiled an attempt to blow up the main gas pipeline near Bhong by arresting three accused and recovering nine kilogram of explosives from their possession.
District Police Officer, Sohail Zafar Chatta, told a press conference that police thwarted an attempt to blow up gas pipeline near Bhong and arrested three suspects. The suspects after seeing police party, opened firing in a bid to flee, however police returned the fire and arrested them
About nine kilograms explosive materials, electric circuit, remote control and weapons were recovered from them, Chatta said.
During preliminary investigation, it was revealed that they wanted to blow up the gas pipeline and they had blown up gas pipeline twice earlier. The DPO claimed that the accused belonged to Baloch Liberation Army.
