Bayern Munich has lifted their ban on reporters from The Sun attending Wednesday's Champions League home clash against Manchester United after the British tabloid apologised for their "You Schwein!" headline. "The Sun has apologised to an appropriate extent, so the matter for us is now closed," said Bayern's media director Markus Hoerwick.
The European champions had taken offence at the newspaper's headline after Bayern's Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger was sent off in last Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in the quarter-final first leg.
Bayern refused accreditation requests for Wednesday's return leg at Munich's Allianz Arena from reporters working for both The Sun and the Daily Mirror, who used a similar "You dirty Schwein!" headline. "Sorry, Bastian! It was not our intention to embarrass you or Bayern Munich," wrote The Sun on their pay-to-read website on Saturday, but the Daily Mirror have yet to apologise and remain barred.
