Danish Agricultural expert and Agri Adviser Henry Jorgenson calls for cementing ties in the field of agriculture between both the countries in order to ensure food security. He was talking to University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Iqrar Ahmad at Syndicate Room. He was flanked by Danish Agri Expert Werner Kofod Nielson. All UAF senior management was present on the occasion.
Henry Jorgenson said the strengthened ties will help the countries to get benefit from each others' experiences. He said Denmark agricultural production is three-fold more than its demand. Most of the farms in Denmark are large farms, as the average size of the farms is 40 hectares, he said, adding it (Denmark) is exporting the seed of the potatoes across the world.
The country (Denmark) has also tremendously worked in livestock, dairy and breeding. The minimum number of animals in the livestock is 250 animals, he said, adding that Denmark has developed a state-of-the-art system of agri information to address the issues of the farming community. In Denmark, there are 40,000 farmers for whom 3,000 extension workers are functioning to provide information. He said 12 percent of Denmark comprises the forests, which is low and the efforts are afoot to increase the forest net.
