SHANGHAI: Chinese shares were down 0.39 percent in morning trade on Wednesday as investors took profits following gains of more than five percent in the index this week, dealers said.
The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, shed 8.98 points to 2,276.76.
