Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Timber Association has demanded the National Accountability Bureau to conduct inquiry into allegedly millions of rupees corruption and irregularities in awarding contract to a blue-eyed for auctioning of timbers in Wapda Tarbela Dam project.
Speaking a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday, a member of KPTA, Haji Mohabat Khan Mohmand said that a massive level corruption was made in awarding of contract for auctioning of trees on very low bid to a favourite contractor, Akhtar Shah, by ignoring others in Wapda Tarbela Dam project, which were causing millions rupees loss to the provincial exchequer. He alleged that the Wapda officials were indulging in this illegal practice to make millions of rupees through awarding contract to near and dear contractor. He said the contract was awarded without proper following rule and procedures, which also question mark on the claims of incumbent government to end corruption at every level in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Flanked by the association members Haji Sher Mohammad, Haji Naimat Shah, Lal Badshah and Shah Zeb, he demanded the NAB to conduct an impartial inquiry into allegedly misappropriation in awarding of contract to a blue-eyed, and issued order to compile a list of trees as per contract, to prevent cutting extra-timbers in the area, to save millions of rupees.
